How many types of yachts are there?
There are two main yacht types:
- Sailing yachts (Monohull, Catamaran, Gulet)
- Motor yachts
Each type has its unique properties to offer.
Traditionally, motor yachts have more space and stability and are popular for families or larger groups. Sailing vessels have the same high levels of luxury but are well suited for travelers who like the idea of traveling under sail.
One of the main decisions includes choosing between hull types – mono or multi – and the different styles and uses.
A sailing Monohull, Gulet, and a Motor Yacht have only one hull (the main body of a yacht) while sailing and power catamarans have two hulls. A Monohull will ensure you the real sailing experience, whereas a catamaran will give you the most comfort and space. Because of its speed, a motor yacht will allow you to visit many pristine destinations around Croatia. It’s easy to choose the right yacht with our help.
Is catamaran the right yacht choice for me?
Are you coming to Croatia to relax and recharge on the Adriatic Sea? If the answer is yes, you can’t beat a Catamaran. Catamarans are luxurious floating apartments.
Booking a catamaran will open new horizons for living at sea. Because of its two hulls, a catamaran will give you comfort and a lot of space. If you are a gourmet, you will love the spacious dining experience that the big kitchen and extra dining room on a catamaran allows. There is a high-quality sound system on board so you can listen to your favorite music while dancing or sipping a glass of wine. A catamaran is an excellent choice because there is never a lack of friends who want to sail, and it offers enough space for everyone to enjoy.
Catamarans are very wide vessels and provide plenty of outdoor areas. So you can enjoy all kinds of activities: yoga, sunbathing, reading, board games, dancing, or listening to music. There is a net at the front, popularly called a trampoline. Don’t underrate this net as a space for cozy cuddling under the stars or for watching the dolphins play.
Catamarans don’t heel (tilt), so they offer far more comfort underway than a monohull. They are gaining popularity due to their stability. Anyone prone to seasickness will feel the effects of motion much less aboard a catamaran than they might on a monohull.
You will love all the great features:
1. Large cockpit
2. Open plan saloon and galley
3. Big and bright kitchen
4. Rooms come with en-suite baths and air-conditioning
5. Large storage space
There are plenty of great sailing catamarans of all sizes. They vary from fun day boats to 80+ foot voluptuous platforms. For example, big luxurious Catamarans have an owner’s suite and guest cabins, opposite to small ones with simple bunk beds and small galley. On the other hand, even small catamarans have built-in air conditioning and generators, guaranteeing a wonderful week of sailing. To conclude, if you choose a Catamaran, your vacation will be comfortable no matter the type.
Is sailing monohull the right yacht choice for me?
Monohulls are incredibly stylish boats. There is a timeless and classic beauty to them. We recommend monohulls for a holiday in Croatia to every true lover of the wind and the sea. A sailing monohull will provide a real sailing experience. If you love feeling the power of the wind under the sail, you should choose a monohull. You will have an exhilarating sailing holiday.
Monohulls tack quickly. They are easy to maneuver and much faster to respond to the helm than a catamaran. Monohulls come in sizes from 10 to 100+ feet. They are strong and light to move in little wind but can also withstand the pounding of oncoming waves. In general, monohulls available for renting have at least 50 percent less outdoor space than on a catamaran. Small monohulls have few places to stretch out on deck comfortably. But, don’t worry, if you want more area for lounging, you can always book a bigger Monohull and have the best of both worlds.
The main reasons for choosing a monohull are:
1. Active holidays that engage the body and relax the mind
2. Perfect for sports lovers who want to take part in sailing
3. Monohulls use less fuel, so they are a greener option
4. Less expensive option for enjoying nature and sea
Monohulls slice through the water effortlessly. You can sleep in smaller coves because of their size, and you have more docking options. It is also a generally less expensive option for sailing holidays.
Is motor yacht the right choice for me?
Motor yachts give you the privilege, freedom, and speed to move from one place to the other in a short time. Big motor yachts have conveniences such as jacuzzis, state-of-the-art entertainment systems, and spas.
The main reasons for choosing motor yachts are:
1. Ultimate luxury, elegance, and comfort
2. Easy access to beautiful destinations
3. Speed and adventurous cruise
If you want to explore many locations in a short period, a motor yacht is the right choice. It’s undoubtedly the best choice for escaping unpleasant weather and reaching your destination in no time. You or your skipper can get to the moorings and docking facilities before other sailors. Motor yachts are the fittest choice for privacy and luxury seekers and those not interested in sailing. Fuel costs can be high, so remember to factor them into the final costs.
Now that you know the differences between the yachts, you need to ask yourself the following questions:
- Which option would be the most suitable for my family, friends, or my partner and me?
- What is the size of my charter party?
- Do you have small kids or elderly passengers?
- What is my holiday budget, and is it relevant?
- What do I want to experience during your week of sailing?
The answers will help you choose the right style and size of the yacht.
Are you ready to book a yacht?
We recommend that you book your sailing holiday at least six months in advance for peak season (July/August). Even though off-peak cruising season is less popular, we still recommend booking at least three to six months in advance. Availability changes quickly. In other words, it’s important to contact us early on to ensure a broad selection of suitable yachts from which to choose. The best charter yachts book as far as a year in advance.
